Great read. Do you think Britain's relatively low tolerance for sincerity in (anything?) public affairs hinders this 'win stupid' tactic? One of the reasons why a broad British or English seriously nationalist party has never successfully captured Westminster (yet) is because we suffer from a chronic fondness for irreverence. It's why ultranationalist rallies, even those as large as the UTK ones organised by Tommy Robinson, always lack the serious and menacing tone of seriousness and austere reverence we associate with similar movements on the continent. MAGA is a cult of personality politics so easily ridiculed and satirised by the British mindset that I'm not sure the same tactics apply. Perhaps this is why, lauded by so many, the current and genuine contender to destroy the professional reputation of the nation's most successful modern right-wing populist is a comedian dressed up as a bin?
